IBM India Sick Leave Policy
IBM promotes the concept of unlimited medical leave with full pay, which no other company provides. As IBM HR says, no one ever knows for how many days they may fall sick in a year. Therefore, the company provides unlimited sick leaves.
Employees can have as many sick leaves as they want. However, if you are taking consecutive leave for more than two days, you have to furnish the necessary medical documents and get them approved by your immediate manager.
IBM India Casual Leave (CL) Policy
IBMers are eligible to take 12 paid casual leaves in a calendar year for personal reasons or emergencies that require a leave of absence. Employees are eligible to avail of casual leaves after successfully completing their probation period with the company.
IBM India Vacation/Privileged Leave (PL) Policy
All employees in IBM are eligible for 22 paid privileged/vacation leave in a year. Out of 22 leaves, employees can carry forward a maximum of 12 leaves to the next year if not utilized.
The 22 vacation days are credited to employees’ leave balance accounts in advance at the start of the year. If the employee has not availed all the credited vacation leave in a year, then the unused vacation leave will be en-cashed at the time of exiting the company or during retirement. One cannot carry forward their vacation leave to the following year.
IBMers with 10 or more years of service are entitled to 4 weeks of vacation leave in a year. With the approval of your line/reporting manager, you can take vacation days at any time during the year in terms of half-days, days, or weeks, based on business requirements and personal preference.
Public Holidays in IBM
IBM offers 12 public holidays each year, depending on the office location. It includes eight nationally observed holidays (fixed holidays designated by IBM) and four personal choice
holidays that eligible IBMers may use. To avail of personal choice holidays, employees may require management approval.
IBM India Maternity Leave Policy
Offering parental leave benefits is a great way to support, attract, and retain employees. Female employees at IBM India can avail of 20 weeks of paid maternity leave. Earlier, it was 14 weeks. As per the govt. rule that maternity leave is only allowed to female workers after completing a minimum of 80 days of continuous working in the organization.
The company also provides another four weeks of special paid maternity leaves in case of any valid medical reasons. Female employees also have options for either six more months of unpaid leaves, half pay-half work model, and full pay WFH (6 months to 1 year of childbirth, whichever is earlier).
IBM India Paternity Leave Policy
Apart from maternity leave, IBM has also increased paid parental leave for newly become fathers, partners, and adoptive parents from six weeks to 12 weeks. These benefits will be available for employees who became new parents any time after November 2016. New
IBM India Sabbatical Leave Program
IBM India offers sabbatical leave ranging from one to two years to eligible employees. It provides regular employees with unpaid time away from work for an extended period. The company usually allows employees to avail of sabbatical leave for the purpose of dependent care, higher education, traveling, pursuing an interest, doing specific research, or teaching at a university.
Approving sabbatical leave depends on various parameters, such as the duration of the leave, how critical the employee is to the organization or the ongoing projects they are working on.
Marriage Leave Policy in IBM India
IBM usually does not separately provide marriage leave. However, employees can talk to their project manager, and request 10-15 days of leave. Simultaneously, employees can also use their casual leave and privileged leave.
